Kanye's call for boycott of LV fails miserably. Fashion brand sells out

It seems like quite a number of people don't like Kanye and they spent their money to prove it. A few days after he called for a boycott of giant fashion brand Louis Vuitton, the exact opposite of what he was hoping for happened. Louis Vuittion sold out and a new record was even set for online sales.
After Kanye West told people to not buy any Louis Vuitton until after January the company took action and sent an e-mail to their best customers who responded in a huge way. The company says that sales surged this week and when final numbers came in that a new record was set for online sales and that customers responded to the attack by Kanye by coming to the brand for the first time and there were many small transactions by people who wanted to show their support for anything that is anti-Kanye." CDN reports
During that radio interview Kanye said "They think I don't realize my power." Guess he's not as influential as he thinks he is.

Mexico: Teen hit man freed, sent to U.S.

Mexican authorities set free a former teen cartel hit man on Tuesday and sent him back to the United States.

The release of Edgar Jimenez Lugo, a U.S. citizen known as "El Ponchis" or "The Cloak," comes less than three years after a Mexican court found him guilty of torturing and beheading at least four people and kidnapping three others as an operative for the South Pacific Cartel.
The teenager's age -- 14 at the time -- and his on-camera description of the slayings, brought international attention to the case. Analysts said the dramatic example showed how Mexican drug gangs were increasingly recruiting youths.
On Tuesday, Mexican authorities said he had served his three-year sentence and had been sent back to the United States.
The teen, now 17, boarded a commercial flight from Mexico City to San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday morning, according to Jorge Messeguer, government secretary in Mexico's Morelos state.

Monetary expert commends CBN for injecting N5.74trn into the system

CBN Governor, Mr. Lamido Sanusi
Mr Wale Abe, the Executive Secretary of Financial Markets Dealers Association, says the N5.74 trillion facility given banks by the CBN will help to reduce interest rates in the country.
Abe made the observation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Lagos.
He also said that availability of liquidity in the financial system would encourage Nigerians to borrow from banks at low interest rates.
NAN reports that the CBN injected the N5.74 trillion through Standing Lending Facility to banks at 14 per cent interest rate.
Abe said that the low interest rates would automatically boost economic and business activities.
“Irrespective of the amount injected into the system, once there is an injection, it simply means that money will be readily available in the system for those who intend to borrow.
“The rationale behind the injection is to bring down the interest rate so that people who intend to borrow can do business, “ Abe said.

Why PDP Lawmakers Who Join APC Won’t Lose Their Seats

“We have read reports that members of the National Assembly that follow us to APC will lose their seats. This cannot happen as it will be at variance with the relevant sections of our Constitution and electoral laws that guarantee the safety of the members of the National Assembly once their parent party is in crisis as PDP is at the moment.
“For the avoidance of doubt, there is no danger of their losing their seats as made clear by sections 68(1)(g) and 109(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) in relation to the status of members of a legislative house (state and national) who defect from the political parties from which they were elected to join another political party.”

What a shame! Gov Oshiomhole tells a crying widow to 'go and die'!

"You're a widow, go and die!" That's what Governor Adams Oshiomhole said to widow during a sanitation exercise of Benin City with some state officials recently. The woman was hawking on the road side which is illegal in the state but to tell her to go and die after she knelt in front of him, crying and begging him not to seize her little means of livelihood, is just cold-hearted.

I'm so mad at the way he treated this woman. Wasn't he once a labour leader? Are these the kind of leaders we have? No compassion, no kindness? What a damn shame! See the video after the cut...

5 Tips To Fight Your Belly Fat

There comes a day in many a man’s life when he finds himself standing in the shower, realising that he can’t see the bottom half of his body past his bulging midriff.
A beer belly, though not always caused by excessive beer consumption, frequently catches men by surprise: as we get older, less physically active and our metabolism changes, extra fat tends to accumulate into a less-than-attractive protruding potbelly.
But tummy fat doesn’t just mess with your good looks, it also comes with considerable medical dangers, including an increased risk of:

Sharia Police Destroy 240,000 Bottles of Beer in Kano (PICTURED)

Police, enforcing Islamic law in Kano, the largest city in Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north, publicly destroyed some 240,000 bottles of beer on November 27, 2013, Wednesday.

The banned booze had been confiscated from trucks coming into the city in recent weeks, said officials from the Hisbah, the patrol tasked with enforcing the strict Islamic law, known as Sharia.

Aminu Daurawa, the Hisbah chief in Kano, said at the bottle-breaking ceremony he had “the ardent hope this will bring an end to the consumption of such prohibited substances”.

“We hope this measure will help restore the tarnished image of Kano,” Daurawa added.

A large bulldozer smashed the bottles to shouts of “Allahu Ahkbar” (God is Great) from supporters outside the Hisbah headquarters in Kano,.

10 Common Salary Negotiation Mistakes

Mistake 1: Lack of Preparation For The Interview
Job interview is a huge stress for the candidate and no one is safe from extra excitement. As a result, there are not too sure answers to the employer’s questions, and the job seeker is so distracted that he/she can not concentrate and submit with good arguments when discussing the level of wages.
It is important for many managers to prove that you are a valuable employee who will not only become the part of a team, but will ensure the success and profit for the organization. So get ready and think of the answers to the questions: "What   salary are you looking for?" and "Why should we hire you?".

Release Asari-Dokubo Or Be Ready For A Showdown - Militants Tell Benin Republic

Following the arrest of former militant leader, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, Tuesday, in Benin Republic, the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, NDPVF, has warned the authorities of the West African nation to free the Niger Delta activist or be ready to face its wrath.

NDPVF issued the warning in Abuja last night, in a statement signed by its leader, Mr. Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro.

Likening the arrest to a kidnap by the authorities, NDPVF said the group was appalled by the unprovoked breach of the fundamental rights of the youth leader.

“We hold this arrest as an absurdity. It is unprovoked and questionable and has been without any reason from the government of Republic of Benin.

“We consider this as a kidnap of our leader by the President of Republic of Benin working with certain opposition figures in Nigeria.

“We hereby make demand on President Yayi Bonni of the Republic of Benin to release, unconditionally and with immediate effect, our leader Alhaji Asari-Dokubo and offer unreserved apology to him for this monumental breach of his rights.

“We call on all the aggrieved youths of Niger Delta to be on red alert and ready for a total showdown and shut down if in the next 48 hours his release has not been made.

“We call on the President of the Nigerian union to mediate on this potential diplomatic row that may lead to an unprecedented conflagration.”

He had repeatedly been called in for questioning over the deaths of six soldiers during an army protest in September but failed to appear.

The al-Qaeda-linked insurgents were ousted from the major towns in the north with the help of France and West African troops earlier this year.

Kenya appeals to UK not to ban khat

Man chewing khat
Khat is banned in most of Europe

Kenyan MPs have appealed to the UK not to "condemn people" by banning the herbal stimulant khat.
The leafy substance, grown by many Kenyan farmers, was of economic and cultural significance to many Africans, MP Florence Kajuju told the BBC.
The UK government has decided, against the advice of its own experts, to treat khat as a class C drug to "protect vulnerable members of our communities".
It is traditionally used by Ethiopian, Kenyan, Somali and Yemeni communities.
The mildly narcotic leaf is already banned in most of Europe and in a number of other countries, including the US and Canada.
