Aviation Minister Stella Oduah erases education references online after SR report

 I saw the Sahara Reporters news yesterday but decided to leave it alone until the Minister responds to the allegations. And she has, by erasing her educational references online after SR's report hit the net.

According to the report by Sahara Reporters, Aviation Minister Stella Odua's Master's degree which she claimed to have obtained from St. Paul’s College Lawrenceville, Virginia, US and presented to the Senate in 2011 as a ministerial nominee, is fake, because the school does not offer graduate programs.

Sahara Reporters learned from the President of the college that it has never in its 125-year history had a graduate school or graduate program. The Provost Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Vice President of Institutional Development said “We don’t offer any graduate programs here.”

Premium Times went digging and it looks like the allegation is true because by 4pm today, her profile page on Facebook was edited and all traces of St. Paul’s College was removed from the account. It was also removed from her Wikipedia page and her biography on the Ministry of Aviation website. See screen grabs after the cut...

Governor Rochas Okorocha's first daughter welcomes twins

The governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has become a grandfather for the first time after his first daughter, Uloma Okorocha Nwosu, welcomed twins in December 2013. Uloma married Uche Nwosu, a serving commissioner in her father's cabinet in January 2013. The twins with Uloma's siblings above.

Uloma Nwosu is the Director General of her fathers foundation, Rochas Okorocha Foundation while her husband is the Honorable Commissioner for Land Survey and Urban planning in Imo State.

A terrible accident occurred earlier today on 3rd Mainland Bridge that left one person dead. The accident involved a Black Prado SUV that reportedly lost its tyres while on high speed.

It was also reported that two people were in the car at the time of the accident, one of them died on the spot while the other person was rushed to the hospital.

Police Smash 3-Man Fake UN Recruitment Syndicate

The Nigeria Police have arrest three members of a recruitment syndicate, Universal Rescue Response Support Foundation (URRSF), for allegedly swindling unsuspecting applicants of N7 million.

CSP Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, who announced the arrest in Abuja on Friday, named the suspects as Lemmy Odogwu, 35, Michael Abraham, 45, and Innocent Prosper, 35.

Mba said that Abraham, the leader of the syndicate, claimed that URRSF belonged to the Economic and Social Council of the UN.

The police spokesman said that the arrest of the suspects followed a tip-off by the UN Chief Security Officer in Nigeria that a recruitment scam was using the name of the world body.

A self-styled pastor, Rev. Godson O. Akubuiro, was on Monday paraded along with 15 others for their role in the printing and circulation of fake naira notes across the country.

Rev. Akubuiro, 49, is General Overseer of The Mountain of Breakthrough Deliverance Ministry, also known as Land of Solution, located at Plot 7, Koya Estate, Igbo Olomu, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos from where he and other suspects were arrested. The “pastor” hails from Imo State.

Pastor Akubuiro, who openly admitted the crime before reporters, said he was “an ordained man of God” until the devil overwhelmed him.

According to a Bloomberg report that was released today, Africa's richest man & founder of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, made $9.2billion in 2013 alone, raising his fortune to over $30billion and making him the 30th richest person in the world.

Bill Gates is back to being the richest man in the world after making $15.8 billion in 2013 alone and raising his fortune to $78.5 billion.

Bloomberg’s billionaires index showed that the 300 richest people in the world increased their wealth by $524 billion in 2013 and the aggregate net worth of the world’s top billionaires stood at $3.7 trillion at the close of market on December 31. 

O.J. Simpson undergoing tests for brain cancer

According to a new report by National Enquirer, jailed former football star O.J. Simpson is receiving tests for brain cancer and is begging President Obama for a pardon so he can die in peace at home.

The magazine claims that Simpson, 66, who is serving a 33 year sentence in a prison in Nevada for kidnapping, assault and robbery, is undergoing secret medical exams for a cancerous tumor in his brain and is convinced he won't live long.

MYSTERY: Warri-based Prophet Disappears After Car Crash

Anxiety is mounting over the sudden disappearance of the General Overseer of Christ Worshippers Church with headquarters at Osubi, Effurun, Warri, Delta State Prophet Duromola Adedayo Samuel.

One source said Prophet Duromola might have met his death in a ghastly auto crash that occurred, yesterday, between 6.00 p.m and 8.00 p.m. along Akure-Ilesa expressway.

But another source said he might also have been a victim of kidnap.

A source in Ikeji Arakeji area where the crash occurred disclosed that after the crash and the vehicle veered into the bush, they tried to give a helping hand but did not meet anybody inside the vehicle with the number plate already removed.

Osun State police command spokesperson, Mrs Folasade Odoro, said there was no official report to that effect while family members from Owo, Ondo State claimed that they had gone to various hospitals in Owena, Ikeji-Arakeji, Ipetu-Ijesa, Ilesa as his whereabouts was still unknown at press time.

Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor, James Avery, 'Uncle Phil' dies at 65

James Avery, the actor who played Uncle Phil in popular 90s sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel Air has died. He passed away yesterday December 31st in an LA hospital days after undergoing open heart surgery. He died from complications from the operation. He was 65 years old. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

In an interview with Sahara TV, the writer, poet & social critique said late premier of the old Western region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, was a greater man than South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, Dr. Nelson Mandela.

I am too much of an Awolowo man not to see that the process of moving into independence in South Africa and in Nigeria followed exactly the same pattern. It was based on a negotiated settlement. The liberation struggle did not create the end of apartheid. It was a negotiation and Nigerians negotiated exactly the way Mandela negotiated.

Justice ministry to spend N181.3m on clothing in 2014 - Report

According to a report by Punch, the Federal Ministry of Justice Headquarters will spend the sum of N181.3m on uniforms and other garments in 2014, according to the budget estimates submitted to the National Assembly by Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

A copy of the proposed budget of the headquarters of the justice ministry, which was obtained by a Punch correspondent, revealed that the sum of N181, 391,000 was allocated for “uniforms and other clothing” in 2014.

The sum is part of the total N4.7bn allocated to the Federal Ministry of Justice Headquarters in the 2014 budget proposal.

NDLEA Arrests Woman With Heroin Hidden In Bag Arrested in Lagos

Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said on Thursday it has intercepted a woman and a bag with 195 grammes of heroin hidden inside it at the Lagos airport.

 The seizure was made on the last day of the year at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos during search of luggage to Monrovia, Liberia on an Arik flight.

“Officials have arrested the consignor, a 34-year old housewife, Nsofor Ngozi Anderlin for attempting to export the drug to her husband in Liberia,” said Mitchell Ofoyeju, NDLEA Head of Public Affairs.
